SEVE
CLIENT: RAKUTEN TV
SEVE was an artist, a golfing Picasso, a fighter, against injury, his rivals and cancer. He remains a LEGEND. This is his story told by those closest to him, sporting greats and in his own words via newly unearthed material.
The filmmakers, David White and Joss Holmes, deserve enormous credit for this, in particular. It would be easy to make a sycophantic, schmaltzy, somewhat selective account of Seve's life, celebrating the man the world thought it knew. Instead, they set out to tell a true, honest story of a humble genius, warts and all.
There is no question they succeeded. Fascinating and poignant, this is essential viewing for any golf fan.

New Seve Ballesteros film finally does golf's 007 justice.
James Bond may be all the talk in the movie world at the moment, but the film-makers have also produced something special about golf’s 007.
Like Bond, Seve Ballesteros was dashing, daring and deadly - and SEVE Artist Fighter Legend - which was directed by Joss Holmes and David White - ticks all three boxes.
Efforts have been made in the past to try and do justice on the big screen but failed. Not this time, though.

It is, however, the words of Seve’s fellow Europeans that stick most vividly in the memory (although the assessments of former Golf Digest editor Jaime Diaz, which run through the film, add much perspective to the narrative). Both Bernhard Langer and Nick Faldo are openly emotional when talking about their old rival.
Faldo calls Seve “a unique animal.” “He had the game, the passion, the skills, his own panache, his own swagger.” But it is the memory of the hugs they shared at the end of the 1987 and 1995 Ryder Cups that stick most vividly in the six-time major champion’s mind. “He called me a great champion,” said Faldo, his voice breaking. “That meant a lot.”
